About MastersFit

Our Founder

Rich is a 63-year-old husband, father, and lifelong fitness enthusiast who has spent decades training with free weights, calisthenics, CrossFit, and nearly every fitness app available. Along the way, he's faced major setbacks — from a torn rotator cuff and bicep tendon in 2014 to double knee replacements in 2024 — experiences that gave him firsthand insight into the challenges of staying fit as you age and the limitations of most fitness apps in addressing those needs.

With more than 35 years in the technology industry, Rich is an accomplished entrepreneur who has brought dozens of commercial software products to market. He is a co-founder and operating partner at Conrad Labs, an AI software services firm known for delivering complex, high-quality solutions. By combining his lifelong passion for fitness with his deep software experience — and world-class technical muscle behind him (see what we did there?) — MastersFit is being built to become the "go-to" fitness app for adults 40+ who refuse to slow down.

The Standards

  • Men 40+: 21+ pull-ups
  • Men under 40: 25+ pull-ups
  • Women 40+: 12+ pull-ups
  • Women under 40: 15+ pull-ups

Pull-Up Rules

  • Grip: Overhand only — no chin-ups or neutral grip
  • Chin: Must clear the bar on every rep
  • Bottom: Elbow lockout at the bottom — natural extension
  • Form: No kipping or swinging — CrossFit (butterfly) pull-ups don't count
  • Speed: Fast reps are fine as long as standards are met
  • Feet: Any position, as long as the movement isn't assisted
  • Pausing: OK, but at least one hand must stay on the bar and feet can't touch the ground

Equipment Guidelines

  • No lifting straps, band assists, or anything wrapped around the bar
  • Chalk, gloves, wrist straps, and belts are allowed
